VOLUNTEER POLICIES & CODE OF CONDUCT
Commitment & Attendance
Volunteers are expected to arrive on time and be prepared for their scheduled shifts.
If you are unable to attend a scheduled day, please notify the camp organizers as soon as possible.
Professional Conduct
Volunteers must behave respectfully and professionally at all times when interacting with campers, parents, staff, and other volunteers.
The following behaviors are not tolerated:
- Harassment, discrimination, or racist remarks
- Bullying or aggressive behavior
- Use of inappropriate or offensive language
- Any behaviour that makes campers or staff uncomfortable
Child Safety
The safety and well-being of campers is the highest priority.
Volunteers must:
- Treat all children with respect and patience
- Never be alone with a child in a secluded area
- Report any safety concerns to camp staff immediately
- Follow all instructions given by camp supervisors
Any form of abuse, inappropriate physical contact, or misconduct toward a child will result in immediate removal and may be reported to authorities.
Camp Safety Rules
Volunteers must follow all camp safety procedures including:
- Safe handling of fishing equipment and hooks
- Supervising children near water
- Following staff instructions during activities
- Reporting injuries or incidents immediately
Substance Policy
Volunteers may not use or be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or cannabis during camp activities.
Photography & Media
Volunteers may not post photos or videos of campers on personal social media unless authorized by camp staff.
Confidentiality
Volunteers must respect the privacy of campers and families. Personal information shared during camp must not be disclosed outside the program.
Respect for Property
Volunteers must treat all camp equipment, fishing gear, and facilities with care.
Dismissal
Failure to follow these policies may result in removal from the volunteer program.
Agreement
By volunteering with Hooked on the Red, volunteers agree to follow these policies and support a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all campers.
